Caption: "Pine Trees Yielding Turpentine, Rosin [sic], Etc. Florida, July 13, 1934." A group of pine trees with bark removed in a "V"-shaped, or "catface" pattern to encourage production of resin, from which turpentine is made. Small buckets hang at the end of each "V" to catch the resin. This turpentine farm may actually be in Georgia, rather than Florida.

Caption: "Pasa [sic] Robles Hotel, May 22, 1935." View of the Hotel el Paso de Robles (pass of the oaks). This resort hotel opened in 1891, and featured a variety of amenities including a mineral hot springs "plunge" bath. The hotel burned down in 1940, and was replaced by the building that is still in operation today as the Paso Robles Inn.

The Gorge is a narrow tidal inlet in Victoria running from Selkirk Trestle to the Craigflower Bridge. The inlet became a popular recreation destination for the area's residents as Victoria grew.
