Caption: "Point Loma.," c. 1905. View of Point Loma and the so-called "New Point Loma Lighthouse" in the center. The lighthouse, first lit in 1891, replaced the "Old Point Loma Lighthouse" that had been constructed in 1855. The old lighthouse was often obscured by fog, so a new lighthouse was built at a much lower elevation much closer to sea level. The light was automated in 1973.

Caption: "Delaware and Hudson R.R. Office Building, Albany, N.Y., Sept. 7, 1934." View of the enormous Gothic building constructed by and for the Delaware and Hudson Railroad Company between 1914-1918. It also housed the offices of the Albany Evening Journal. A small city park sits in front of the building's central tower, surrounded on all sides by a looped street originally intended for trolley cars. The building was gradually abandoned by the businesses within, until purchased in 1973 by the State University of New York (SUNY). SUNY renovated the building for use as its administrative offices, a purpose which it still serves today.

No caption, c. 1917. William McCarthy (center) standing with the unidentified crew of a 6" Howitzer at Camp Kearney. Camp Kearney was established by the U.S. Army in 1917 just north of San Diego. The post was largely abandoned by the government in 1920, used as a military and civilian airfield. It did not see increased military service again until the 1930s.
