Caption: "Mormon Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah," c. 1935. The Salt Lake City Mormon Temple was opened in 1893 and is the largest temple (253,015 square feet) built by the Church of the Latter-day Saints.

Caption: "State Capitol - Calif, " c. 1920. View of the California State Capitol Building. Much of the building is obscured by trees, but the dome is visible. Designed by M.F. Butler, California's State Capitol Building experienced significant delays while under construction. Crews broke ground on December 4, 1856, but the Legislature did not occupy the building until 1869, and the building was not fully completed until 1874.

The Raja Yoga Academy is visible in the center of the photograph, featuring a domed roof and domed turrets at each of the building's corners. At the right stands the Temple of Peace. Both are buildings within the Theosophist complex called Lomaland. The complex housed Theosophists from 1900 to 1942. The area is now part of Point Loma Nazarene University.

A group of people stands at the pond's edge in the distance. The City of Vancouver opened Stanley Park in 1888. The 405-hectare park is even now thickly forested, and remains Vancouver's largest park. It is located on the northern edge of the city, surrounded on three sides by Vancouver Harbor and English Bay.

Caption: "Leevining [sic] Grade -- Tioga Road." The Lee Vining Grade is on the eastern side of Tioga Pass in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Mono County, California, northeast of Yosemite Valley. It constitutes part of the Tioga Road, or Tioga Pass Road, now part of California State Route 120. The Grade is visible in the photograph as a thin line running along the mountain sides in the lower third of the image.

Caption: "Point Benito [sic]. Fort Barry." c. 1910. A view of the Point Bonita Lighthouse near Fort Barry and the Marin Headlands. The lighthouse, built in 1855, was the third lighthouse built on the West Coast to shepherd ships through the narrow straights of the Golden Gate. The lighthouse, still active today, is maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard, and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
