Caption: "Capitol Building, Washington, D. C. July 23, 1934." View of the domed United States Capitol, housing both the Senate and House of Representatives. Constructed between 1793 and 1800 and designed by architect William Thornton, the building has undergone several expansions, including the addition of the wedding-cake-style dome in the 1850s.

Caption: "Brothers Light House" and "Scenes on the Sacramento River.," c. 1920. Shows the island and structures associated with the East Brother Island Lighthouse, lit in 1874 in San Rafael Bay near Richmond, California. The light was automated in 1969. After restoration in the early 1980s, the lighthouse now operates as a bed-and-breakfast.

Caption: "Wreck on the Vallejo Napa Line." Photograph showing some of the train cars involved in a June 19, 1913 accident in which two trains of the San Francisco, Napa Valley and Calistoga Railroad collided head-on approximately 2.4 miles north of Vallejo. Ten passengers and three railroad employees were killed, and twenty-eight others injured.

Caption: "George Washingions [sic] Home, Rear View, Mt. Vernon, Va. July 22, 1934." Rear view of Mount Vernon, the plantation home of George and Martha Washington. Built between 1758 and 1778, the Palladian-style mansion is now owned in trust by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association and open to the public.

Caption: "Beacon Tavern - Barstow, Calif.," c. 1935, shows the Beacon Tavern and Hotel at Barstow, designed in the Spanish-Colonial Revival architectural style. It opened in 1930 and was torn down in 1970, after several years of decline.

No Caption: 1935. The Zoro Garden Nudist Colony, named for the Persian mystic, Zoroaster, was an unusual and controversial attraction that featured partially nude men and women performing as nudists. Exposition visitors were charged twenty-five cents to watch the "nudists" perform ceremonies and other activities. Today, the sunken Zoro Garden in Balboa Park is a butterfly garden.

Caption: Eureka Court House, CAL. Eureka Population 1500," c. 1935. The Eureka County Courthouse was completed in 1889 (Curtis and Bennett, architects) in the Italianate style. The building survived several fires and earthquakes with some damage. It was condemned in 1956 and subsequently demolished to build a new, more modern facility.
