Caption: "Division Headquarters. Camp Lewis, Wash.," c. 1918. Shows the two-story building that served as Division Headquarters for Camp Lewis in Washington. The Camp was established by the U.S. Army in 1917, as part of the U.S.'s preparations for eventual entry into World War I. Rapid construction had the camp ready to house 60,000 men within a few months. The site is still in use as a military facility, under the name Fort Lewis.

No caption. William McCarthy stands in front of the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, c. 1935. Opened in 1927 and designed by architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood, the Ahwahnee Hotel is located on the floor of Yosemite Valley. It was built as a resort hotel by the Yosemite Park and Curry Company. Modernized over the years, its name was changed to the Majestic Yosemite Hotel in 2016, as a result of legal dispute over trademarked names in the park.

Caption: "State Capitol - Calif, " c. 1920. View of the California State Capitol Building. Much of the building is obscured by trees, but the dome is visible. Designed by M.F. Butler, California's State Capitol Building experienced significant delays while under construction. Crews broke ground on December 4, 1856, but the Legislature did not occupy the building until 1869, and the building was not fully completed until 1874.
