Caption: "Sept. 21, 1934, Baltimore and Ohio R.R. Exhibit. Chicago Fair." Shows a replica of the Tom Thumb, an early steam locomotive built by Peter Cooper in 1830 for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. This replica was displayed at the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago, a world's fair celebrating the city's one-hundred year anniversary of incorporation. This photograph was loose in the box with Album 11.

Caption: "Council Crest -- Portland," c. 1909. Buildings and benches in a park setting, with a tall observation tower, labeled the "Observatory," at the right side of the photograph. Council Crest Park in Portland, Oregon was the site of an amusement park between 1907 and 1929. The buildings in this photograph were part of that park. The Observatory, built in 1907, was demolished in 1941 to make room for a water tower. The area is still in use as a municipal park.

Project for Department of Mental Hygiene - Hospitals. The hospital was initially named Pacific Colony (1927-1953), followed by Pacific State Hospital (1953-1979); Frank D. Lanterman State Hospital and Developmental Center; and finally Lanterman Developmental Center, which closed in 2015.

Caption: "Toll Gate -- St Helena Mountain.," c. 1920. Toll gate consists of a long wooden spar across the road, with a small building to the right. Grace McCarthy is standing next to an automobile at the gate. The St. Helena Toll Road, now part of California State Route 29, connected the Napa Valley with Lake County. It was built in 1868, and purchased by the State of California in 1925.

Caption: "The Casino -- Agua Caliente, Mexico -- May 20, 34." View of the exterior of the casino at Agua Caliente Casino and Resort. Designed by Wayne McAllister, the resort opened in Tijuana in 1928. It closed only a few years later, in 1935, when Mexican President Lázaro Cárdenas outlawed gambling.
