Caption: "A DAY ON THE GORGE, Victoria, B. C.," c. 1906. William McCarthy (center, with moustache) posing with four unidentified men and two horse-and-buggies. The Gorge is a narrow tidal inlet in Victoria running from Selkirk Trestle to the Craigflower Bridge. The inlet became a popular recreation destination for the area's residents as Victoria grew.

Caption: "Echo Park [sic] -- Los Angeles," c. 1910. Grace McCarthy standing on a bridge in Los Angeles' Echo Lake Park. The park opened in 1895. The lake was originally created in 1868 to support the operations of a mill. The mill, however, closed seven years later. The site was later selected for conversion to a city park.

Final design of Grandstand, State Fair, Stockton Boulevard, Sacramento. Design, drawing, and water color rendering by Alfred Eichler. Built to this design, 1926-1927. Water color rendering made in transparent color with a little Chinese white mixed; the sky was blown in using an air brush. Project for Department of Finance - Fairs and Expositions.
