Caption: "Municipal Bldg. N.Y." c. 1925. The statue Civic Virtue Triumphant Over Unrighteousness (Frederick William MacMonnies, sculptor) stands in the foreground of this photograph. The statue, unveiled in 1922, now stands in Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery. New York City's Municipal Building rises above the statue in the background. Built between 1907-1914 and designed by architect William M. Kendall, the Municipal Building was constructed in order to consolidate several different municipal agencies under one roof and thereby save the city rent for multiple buildings. In 2015, it was renamed the David N. Dinkins Municipal Building, after a former New York City mayor.

Caption: "Court House, Redwood City," c. 1912-1915. View of the Redwood City Courthouse building, constructed in 1910 and designed by Glenn Allen. This was the fourth courthouse built on the site. The dome was originally part of the third courthouse building, and was the only portion of that structure to survive the 1906 earthquake. It was subsequently incorporated into the fourth courthouse building, dubbed the Temple of Justice. In 1939 the county removed the courthouse's facade in order to add a new building (the Fiscal Building) to the site. The Fiscal Building was torn down in 2005 and the original facade of the fourth courthouse reconstructed.

Caption: "Decorated Locomotive. Fifth Liberty Bond Drive -- Benicia, Calif." During World War I, the U.S. government raised funds for the war by issuing "liberty bonds." Citizens who purchased the bonds could later redeem them for the purchase price plus interest. Liberty Bond Drives were held to encourage people to purchase the bonds. This photograph shows a locomotive employed in the fifth Liberty Bond Drive, held in 1919. Decorated with bunting and flags to inspire patriotic feeling, Liberty Bond Trains crisscrossed the U.S. to round up funding.
