    Caption: "Conservatory, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, May 14, 1934." View of one wing of the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. A planting bed in front of the wing has been planted with flowers in such a way as to portray the California flag and the letters "California Diamond Jubilee, 1850-1925." The date on this photograph may not be accurate, given the dates included in the flower bed. The Conservatory of Flowers is the oldest building in Golden Gate Park, dating to 1879. The Victorian-style building has housed rare and exotic plants since its completion.

    Caption: "Santa Rosa Court House.," c. 1914. Built in 1910, this building replaced the original Sonoma County courthouse that was destroyed by the great earthquake and fire that ravaged the San Francisco Bay Area in 1906. This second courthouse served the county for more than fifty years before being declared seismically unsafe in the 1960s. It was subsequently torn down, but the area still retains the name "Old Courthouse Square."

Designed by Cyrus Edwin Dallin, the Brigham Young Monument (also known as the Pioneer Monument) stands before the Salt Lake Temple in this photograph. The statue was first displayed at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, and moved to its post at Main and South Temple Streets in Salt Lake City in 1897.

    Caption: "Blue Rock Springs -- Solano Co.," c. 1915. Grace McCarthy (far left) and two unidentified friends or relatives at what is now known as Blue Rock Springs. In the 1860s, White Sulphur Springs (in the vicinity of Vallejo) was developed for use as a mineral springs resort, featuring a hotel, several cottages, and an "amusement" building with a dance floor, bar, and billiard room. Manuel Madrid obtained the property around the turn of the twentieth century, and changed the name to Blue Rock Springs. The area is now managed by the Greater Vallejo Recreation District as Blue Rock Springs Park.
