Grace McCarthy stands next to an automobile on the side of a road under trees. The other side of the road is flanked by rows of bamboo plants. This may be part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Savannah Plant Introduction Station, established in approximately 1919 in the Burroughs Station area southwest of Savannah. The station remained open until 1979, when it was closed by USDA budgetary downsizing. The property was subsequently deeded to the University of Georgia, in 1983.
