Caption: "St. Josephs Oratore [sic] - Montreal," c. 1925. William and Grace McCarthy beneath the entry arch to the complex containing St. Joseph's Oratory, a Roman Catholic basilica and shrine. Work on the building began in 1924, and continued until 1967. Only the first level of the building had been completed when this photograph was taken.

The French Renaissance Revival style building, designed by George Richard Mann, has been home to the city's governmental offices since 1898.

Caption: "Washington State Capitol -- Olympia.," c. 1920. Also known as The Castle, this building served as Washington's state capitol building from 1905 to 1928, when the Legislature moved into the current building. The central tower of The Castle was lost in a 1928 fire, while numerous other towers fell to the 1949 Olympia earthquake. Some of those towers have been restored.

Constructed between 1793 and 1800 and designed by architect William Thornton, the building has undergone several expansions, including the addition of the wedding-cake-style dome in the 1850s.

Caption: "Steamer Indianapolis, Seattle.," c. 1906-1908. View of the Indianapolis, a steamship in the fleet of the Alaskan Steamship Company. Built in 1904, the Indianapolis was purchased by the Alaskan Steamship Company (ASC) in 1906. In 1908, it was transferred to the Puget Sound Navigation Company, a subsidiary to the ASC. The Indianapolis was subsequently scrapped in Seattle, in 1938.
