The Gorge is a narrow tidal inlet in Victoria running from Selkirk Trestle to the Craigflower Bridge. The inlet became a popular recreation destination for the area's residents as Victoria grew.

    Design and drawing of California State Building for Nevada Highways Exposition in Reno, Nevada, by Alfred Eichler, c. 1926; from packet of designs and plans by Eichler for the Transcontinental Highways Exposition of 1927. Built. Initial appropriation of $100,000 was reduced to $50,000, so only one half of the plan was built. The tower was eliminated.

This photograph shows a panoramic view of the fair grounds where the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition was held in Portland, Oregon, from June 1st to October 15th, 1905. The international exposition celebrated the one-hundred year anniversary of the exploratory expedition of the Louisiana Purchase and what became the northwestern part of the United States, led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Some 1.6 million people visited the fair, viewing exhibits from twenty-one countries.
