No Caption: Commemorative U.S. two-cent postage stamp issued for the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. The stamp features a portrait of William H. Seward, U.S. Secretary of State (1861-1869), U.S. Senator (1849-1861), and twelfth governor of New York (1839-1842). Seward negotiated the purchase of the Alaskan territory from Russia in 1867.

Caption: "City Hall -- Miami -- Florida, June 30 1934." This photograph depicts the Miami-Dade County Courthouse (not Miami's City Hall). Designed by architect A. Ten Eyck Brown, the Courthouse was constructed between 1925-1928. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest building in Florida.

Considered one of the worst natural disasters in the country's history, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and resulting fires killed an estimated 3,000 people and destroyed over 500 city blocks, leaving approximately 200,000 residents homeless.
