No Caption: Pink ribbon commemorating Agricultural Days at the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition (September 28 and 29, 1905). Held in Portland, Oregon, from June 1st to October 15th, 1905, the international exposition celebrated the one-hundred year anniversary of the exploratory expedition of the Louisiana Purchase and what became the northwestern part of the United States, led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Some 1.6 million people visited the fair, viewing exhibits from twenty-one countries.

Caption: "City Hall - Detroit," c. 1925. Grace McCarthy poses in front of Detroit's City Hall. The Italian Renaissance Revival-style building, designed by architect James Anderson, was constructed between 1867 and 1871. It housed Detroit's city government until 1955, when a new facility was ready for occupation. This building was subsequently demolished in 1961.

Camp Meeker, in Sonoma County north of San Francisco, is in the California Coast Ranges. Established by lumber baron Melvin Cyrus Meeker in 1866, by the turn of the twentieth century the area primarily served as a vacation and resort destination.

No caption, c. 1917. William McCarthy standing next to a 6" Howitzer at Camp Kearney. Camp Kearney was established by the U.S. Army in 1917 just north of San Diego. The post was largely abandoned by the government in 1920, used as a military and civilian airfield. It did not see increased military service again until the 1930s.
